The workaholic governor stated this while briefing newsmen at the State House following a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa.

Umahi’s declaration came barely 24 -hours after the National Leader of the All Progressive Congress, Bola Tinubu made his own ambition to contest the presidential seat known to the President.

2. Ernest Shonekan is Dead

Former Interim administrator of Nigeria, Ernest Shonekan has been confirmed dead.

He died on Tuesday in Lagos, aged 85.

3. Salvation Ministries building collapses in Delta

At least, three persons have been left in critical condition following a collapse of the building housing the Okpanam branch of Salvation Ministries, Asaba, Delta State.

The incident occurred during an evening service on Tuesday, which was the Church’s first service in the structure.

While a double-figure of members was first reported dead, the Secretary to the State Government, Patrick Ukah said no casualties were recorded.

Primate Elijah Ayodele, the Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has predicted three people who are likely to become the next Delta State governor.

The clergyman renowned for his monthly prophecies identified James Augoye as an anointed candidate of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, and as a most likely candidate to succeed him.

He also mentioned Kingsley Otuaro and James Manager as bug contenders for the hot seat.

6. NIMC denies servers hack

The Director-General of the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, Engr. Aliyu Aziz has debunked poured cold water on reports that the commission’s server was hacked.

The debunker followed widespread reports that data of over three million Nigerians were stolen by a hacker on Monday.

Aziz said “NIMC has built a robust and credible system for Nigeria’s identity database” over the years, and is “revalidated yearly,” making it difficult for anyone to hack into the database.

7. Amina Mohammed reappointed UN DSG

Nigeria’s Amina Mohammed has been reappointed as the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations.

This follows an official announcement by António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, allowing Amina to continue in her role as Deputy Secretary-General for a second term.

The UN in a statement said that by delegating development coordination to the deputy secretary-general, Guterres initiated the most ambitious reform of the organization’s development system in its history.

8. Wike behind oil bunkering in Rivers State – APC

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has been accused of being the pillar behind illegal oil bunkering in the state.

The All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers state described the action as the major cause of the soot shortening the lives of residents of the State.

Wike had in a state-wide broadcast last Sunday, vowed to publish the names of those behind illegal bunkering activities in Okrika communities, Rivers South-East and Rivers South-West Senatorial Districts and declare them wanted if they fail to hand themselves over to the police.

9. We have not received the list of wanted persons in Rivers – Police

The Rivers State Police Command has denied reception of the list of 19 persons declared wanted by Governor Nyesom Wike for alleged involvement in oil bunkering in the State.

The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Friday Eboka disclosed this on Monday while answering questions from journalists.

The Commissioner’s statement came on the heels of the Governor reeling out the names of the wanted persons, and further said that the details of those declared wanted had been “passed” to the police.

However, the police said it is yet to receive such a list, and cannot work on hearsay.

10. PDP must take advantage of APC’s crisis

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has called on stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to take advantage of the crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress, APC, to take over power in 2023.

The governor who gave the advice on Monday when he paid a courtesy visit to his Bayelsa State counterpart, Sen. Duoye Diri at the Government House, Yenagoa, stressed the need for stakeholders in the PDP to remain united and formidable ahead of the 2023 general elections.
