Two mission schools in Nigeria have been named the 1st and 2nd place secondary schools in the 2024 World Mathematics Tournament (WMT).
Welkin International School, Atan-Ota, Ogun State came first overall, while Baptist Mission School (BMS), Benin City, Edo State came second overall.
This competition was held virtually by the Mathematics for Life Foundation for secondary and high school students from around the world.
A total of 590 secondary schools from 33 countries took part in the virtual mathematics competition that was held for the fourth year in a row.

Hardship: Abuja Warehouse Looting Criminal Act – Minister
Mr. Kevin Okunzuwa, Vice President of the Benin Mission School Parents and Teachers Association (PTA), broke the news of the achievement to journalists in Benin.
He commended his award-winning SS3 students Victor Obaseki Christian and Daniel Noel Iskebobo for making both their parents and the school proud.
Mr. Okunzuwa called on the government and stakeholders to invest more in the education sector, especially in expanding the capacity of teachers and creating an enabling environment for students to excel.
This happened as he urged other BMS students to emulate the exploits of Daniel and Christian who brought glory to themselves, their parents, and the entire school.
