Paul Onuachu, Genk’s forward who picked up an injury at the Super Eagles’ first training session has been asked to undergo an individual training ahead of Thursday’s qualifier against the Central African Republic.

Onuachu reportedly sustained a minor ankle injury in the middle of the first training on Tuesday morning which debarred him to partake throughout the training session.

To avoid complications, the Nigerian coach, Gernot Rohr has required the 27-year-old to have individual training with the Nigerian physiotherapists on Tuesday evening.

The 68-year-old Nigerian coach has kept an eye on the Owerri-born striker amid Wednesday evening’s workout at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.

The coach will thereby have to premise his decision on Onuachu’s undergone fitness test to see whether he can be involved in tomorrow’s qualifying match against the Central African Republic.

The former Midtjylland forward, who was substituted in Nigeria’s last two matches during the 2021 African cup of Nations qualifiers has a positive bearing on the results in those games.

Onuachu who scored against Republic of Benin and Lesotho came off the bench following a tactical substitution.

As it is now, If Onuachu fails to pass the fitness test, that means Taiwo Awoniyi of Union Berlin’s will have to hold the fort for him
