The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) says it has crossed the 120 million mark in the enrolment of Nigerians and legal residents for the National Identity Number (NIN).

Coker-Odusote also addressed public concerns over NIMC’s recent price adjustments.
“There were some prices that were too much, so what we did was to remove them,” she said, noting that the review was to curb extortion and standardise fees.
She explained that while NIN enrolment remains free, charges for data modifications have been increased, while verification costs have been reduced. For instance, the fee for correcting a date of birth was raised from N16,340 to N28,574, and NIN retrieval via USSD now costs N50, up from N20.
