NIS Arrests 303 Suspected Illegal Migrants In Akwa Ibom | Daily Report Nigeria

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State has arrested at least three hundred and three suspected illegal immigrants.

State Comptroller Mrs Francisca Dakat told reporters after a mop-up exercise in Uyo, during the weekend.

According to her, the number apprehended were 285 adults.

Dakat further explained that the mop-up exercise was in line with the service directives which restricted non-Nigerians from partake in the general elections.

She held that the command had earlier carried out a sensitisation for all non-Nigerians residents in the state before the mop-up.

She said:

“The mop-up, which held within the Uyo metropolis, will be a continuous exercise and will be extended to all the 31 local government areas.”
