Nnamdi Kanu Opposes Appeals For His Release, Insists On Rule Of Law

  • Nnamdi Kanu, the head of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has advised against requests for his release, claiming he has not committed any crime.

  • His lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, revealed that Kanu is not happy with recent appeals from certain South East leaders.

Nnamdi Kanu, the head of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has advised against requests for his release, claiming he has not committed any crime.

This was revealed by his lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, in a statement on Saturday.

According to Ejimakor, Kanu is not happy with recent appeals from certain South East leaders, including Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, urging President Bola Tinubu to work on Kanu’s release.

Kanu emphasized that his release should not be an act of mercy or pardon, but rather a compliance with the subsisting Federal High Court judgment that declared his detention as unconstitutional.

Kanu stated, “The matter of releasing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is not an act of mercy, pardon, executive clemency or even amnesty.

“Instead, it should be an act of simply complying with the subsisting Federal High Court judgment that declared his detention as unconstitutional”

He also thanked everyone working towards the restoration of security and tranquility in Igboland, and emphasized that he has committed no offense known to law.

Nnamdi Kanu, the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has expressed his doubts about receiving a favorable judgment from any court in Abuja.

According to Kanu, his case is not being decided by the rule of law, but rather by “dirty and deadly politics.”
