NNPC Empowers 531 NYSC Members with Grants, Business Starter Packs

  • The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has empowered 531 NYSC members with N531,000 each and starter packs to promote youth entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

  • The beneficiaries, selected through a rigorous process, were praised for their excellence and advised to build purposeful businesses with the resources.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has empowered 531 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with N531,000 each and business starter packs to boost self-reliance among young Nigerians.

The presentation was held in Abuja on Thursday and led by NNPC Ltd.’s Group Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Roland Ewubare, on behalf of the GCEO, Mr. Bayo Ojulari.

Ojulari, in his message, said the initiative reflects NNPC’s commitment to national development, calling it a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future. “You are exceptional candidates. We are proud to support your journey. Use these resources wisely. They are seeds for your growth and transformation,” he told the beneficiaries.

The programme is a collaborative effort between the NNPC Ltd. Foundation, NYSC, the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), and Kudimata Nigeria Ltd. According to the Foundation’s Managing Director, Mrs. Emmanuella Arukwe, the initiative began with financial literacy training in August 2023 and has reached over 800,000 corps members.

“Even those not selected today have gained skills to access loans and grants. This is a long-term investment in economic resilience,” she added.

Kudimata founder Kathleen Erhimu praised the project as transformational, while NYSC Director-General, Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Nafiu, commended NNPC for providing both training and practical support.

The CAC Registrar-General’s representative urged recipients to formally register their businesses. One beneficiary, Ozigi Faith, described the experience as “life-changing,” encouraging others to remain focused and driven.
