The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) for the second time in four days.

The state-owned oil company raised the price to N967 per litre on Saturday, up from N960 per litre, representing a N7 increase. The new price has already been implemented at NNPCL filling stations in Abuja and surrounding areas.

Earlier in the week, NNPCL had increased the pump price from N875 per litre to N960 per litre. Following the latest adjustment, other filling stations in the nation’s capital have also revised their prices to between N967 and N1,000 per litre.

The development comes as global crude oil prices surged by about 9 percent, with both Brent crude and West Texas Intermediate rising above $90 per barrel amid tensions in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, the Dangote Refinery earlier in the week increased its gantry petrol price, citing rising crude oil costs linked to geopolitical instability in the region.
