Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has resigned from his role, marking the end of his 20-month tenure at the state-owned oil giant.

In a post shared on his Facebook page on Saturday, June 21, Soneye announced that he was “stepping aside” to dedicate more time to his family and attend to pressing personal responsibilities.

He described his time at NNPCL as a “profound honour” and said he was proud of his contributions to the transformation of the company. He pledged to remain a “steadfast supporter and ambassador” of the firm.

“It has been a profound honour to serve both the Company and our country, and to contribute in my own way to the ongoing transformation of NNPC Ltd. I am deeply grateful for the trust reposed in me, the opportunities granted, and the incredible professionals both within and outside the organisation with whom I have worked,” Soneye stated.

He urged media professionals to continue supporting the NNPCL’s strategic objectives through robust and balanced reportage.

Soneye was appointed on October 18, 2023, replacing Garba Muhammad, who served in the position from 2021.

Prior to joining NNPCL, Soneye built a distinguished career in international journalism across Nigeria, Australia, and the United States.
