The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has set a goal to increase crude oil production to 2 million barrels per day by the end of the year, up from 1.6 million barrels in July.

Speaking during a meeting with maritime stakeholders, NNPCL’s Managing Director, Mele Kyari, represented by Folorunsho Karim, expressed optimism about achieving the target.

He urged security agencies to continue their efforts against oil theft and pipeline vandalism.

“The target is to increase production to 2 million barrels by the end of the year, and we are fully committed to doing that,” Kyari said. “I appreciate the support of the Nigerian Navy in making this possible.

They have been providing significant support, which has resulted in a reduction in oil theft.”

Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, noted that the Navy was working to ensure its operations supported operators and promoted ease of doing business.

“Providing security is a way to promote ease of doing business because if there is no security, operators cannot function,” Ogalla said.
