The Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has asked the Presidency and the Office of the National Security Adviser to publicly clear its National Leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, of alleged links to terrorism.

In a statement signed by the state Publicity Secretary, Engr. Ibrahim Karaye, the party urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) to issue an official statement exonerating Kwankwaso from what it described as unsubstantiated accusations.

The NNPP described Kwankwaso as a patriotic Nigerian whose record in education and human capital development speaks for itself.

It cautioned against politicising national security matters, stressing that security concerns should not be used as tools for political contest.

The party also appealed to Nigerians to reject what it termed attempts to tarnish the image of its leader through unverified claims.

It referenced reports suggesting that foreign interests, including the United States, may be acting on unverified allegations, urging restraint and due diligence in handling such sensitive matters.

According to the party, Kwankwaso’s political decisions — including his refusal to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) — stem from principled differences in manifestos and should not be twisted into security allegations.

The NNPP called for immediate clarification from the Presidency and the NSA to prevent what it described as negative publicity for the country.
