NSCDC Arrests Suspected Fraudster in Adamawa Over ₦9 Million Scam

The Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended a 28-year-old man suspected of defrauding unsuspecting victims of more than ₦9.08 million.

The command’s spokesperson, Nyako Baba, confirmed in a statement on Tuesday in Yola that the suspect was arrested on September 2 in Timbokum village, Ganye Local Government Area. The arrest followed a complaint filed at the NSCDC divisional office in Mubi.

According to the State Commandant, Idris Bande, the suspect reportedly lured at least nine individuals by promising them political appointments, employment opportunities, and foreign travel arrangements.

“Records show that the suspect obtained contacts of prominent personalities in the state, which he used to lure his victims with attractive but fake offers,” Bande explained.

Bande added that the suspect returned ₦1.1 million to some victims during preliminary investigations. He also noted that inquiries are ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspect’s fraudulent activities, including any accomplices.

The commandant assured that the suspect would face legal consequences and urged residents to remain vigilant. He emphasized, “The NSCDC is committed to the security and safety of lives, properties, and public trust, by putting fraudsters to task.”

NCAA Directs Airlines to Provide Hotel Accommodation for Stranded Passengers

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced that airlines are required to provide hotel accommodations for passengers stranded due to flight cancellations or delays between 10pm and 4am.

NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, warned that airline staff can no longer disappear, leaving NCAA officials to manage frustrated passengers.
