Confirming the incident in a statement, the lawmaker alleged that the officer was killed after hoodlums attempted to disrupt the distribution exercise.
Doguwa expressed shock over the development, describing it as a tragic loss.
“May Allah grant him mercy and forgiveness,” the lawmaker said while condoling with the Civil Defence Corps, the family of the deceased officer and residents of the community.
The lawmaker called on security agencies to immediately launch a full investigation into the incident in order to identify those responsible for the violence and bring them to justice.
He also warned against the spread of false information linking him directly to the incident, stressing that legal action could be taken against individuals spreading defamatory remarks.
According to Doguwa, he personally supervised the distribution of food items and other support materials to residents of the area.
He added that the tragic incident highlights the need for greater vigilance and stronger security measures during large public gatherings, especially during humanitarian or relief distribution events.
