NSCDC Parades 5 Fake Security Guards, Recovers Guns In Anambra

Operatives of the NSCDC have arrested five fake security operatives in Anambra State.

Daily Report Nigeria gathers that the suspects were arrested while mounting an illegal roadblock in Nteje, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State division have paraded five fake officers in the state.
Confirming the arrest in a statement released to newsmen by the superintendent of the corps and Head of media and Tactical Ops NSCDC Anambra State Command, Okadigbo Edwin saud the suspects are said to have been extorting money from motorists.

He further identified the suspects as Ekene Erigaka âmâ 27 years from Ihime Mbano, Imo State, Emeka Eze âmâ 28 years from Oraukwu, Anambra State, Ugoma Prosper âmâ 20 years from Okohia Ihiala, Obiuto EZE âmâ 42 years from Isialangwa South, Abia State and Victor Nnadi âmâ 34 years from Uli in Ihiala LGA of Anambra State.
*On Thursday 3/10/2024 at about 1630hrs, based on credible Intelligence received that a group of five suspected illegal security guards were sighted at a roadblock in Nteje on black T-shirt crested âAVG Special Squadâ, the command quickly mobilized operatives of Private Guard Company (PGC) Department in collaboration with Nteje Vigilante Group to the scene and arrested the suspects,â he stated.Â
âPreliminary investigation reveals that this kind of illegal checkpoint can facilitate robberies, extortions, abductions and the targeted killings of civilians and state actors.
âThey are among those making it difficult for average citizens to pursue their legitimate business.
âWe are resolute and determined to rid the state of every form of crime and criminality in accordance with our Corps mandate.â
Some exhibits recovered from them include three pumps guns.

The PPRO added that the arrest was part of the Corpsâ determination to eliminate impersonators and undesirable elements who hide under the cover of private security guards to perpetuate crime.
