The National Union of Road Transport Workers’ (NURTW) national headquarters has questioned the union’s Lagos State chairman, Mr. Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo), over insubordination and anti-union activities.
In a query dated February 14, 2022, obtained by our correspondent on Sunday, the national headquarters stated that MC Oluomo had refused to carry out all directives and instructions given to him recently by the union’s national leadership.
Mr. Kabiru Yau, General Secretary of the NURTW, signed the query.

“Our attention has been drawn to the fact that you have refused to comply with the national secretariat’s directives during a meeting with you and other members of the Lagos State Administrative Council in Abuja on February 9, 2022, pertaining to the appointment of Alhaji Azeez Abiola as chairman, Lagos State NURTW Tricycle Operators.” Instead, you have used intimidation, harassment, and assault against the newly appointed tricycle chairman.”
The national headquarters also expressed disappointment that MC Oluomo refused to hand over the former NURTW Secretariat at 360 Abule Egba on the Abeokuta Expressway to the Tricycle Caretaker Committee in order to prevent them from using the office.
The union’s national leadership also accused Akinsanya of using thugs to take over branches of his perceived enemies.
“It is on record that you mobilized thugs to forcibly take over the operations of some local branches led by perceived opponents,” the question went on to say.
To avoid the union’s wrath, the national headquarters directed MC Oluomo, “In light of all of the foregoing, to hand over the former state council secretariat at Abule Egba to the newly appointed Lagos State Tricycle Committee within 48 hours.
“Withdraw all men you sent to take over the branches of your perceived opponents; submit a written apology to the national secretariat; failure to comply with the foregoing directives will leave the national secretariat with no choice but to take disciplinary action against you in accordance with the provisions of the union’s constitution.”
In an interview with our correspondent on Sunday, MC Oluomo’s spokesperson, Jimoh Buari, said the query was received by the state chapter of the NURTW on Friday, but his principal had not been seen since.
He stated that his principal would respond to the inquiry on Monday.
