The Management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has explained the reason behind the delay in the June allowance for corps members.

NYSC claimed it was aware of the concerns of corps members regarding the delay in the payment of their monthly allowance for June 2023.

It however blamed the “administration of funds by various banks” for the delay in paying the June allowance.

Eddy Megwa, the NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, said in a statement on Sunday.

According to Megwa, the Scheme had finalized plans to pay corps members their June allowance on June 27, 2023.

It read:

For the avoidance of doubt, the Scheme completed all arrangements for the payment of Corps Members’ allowance since 27th of June, 2023, and remittances made same day to various banks accordingly.

“The delay being currently experienced is due to the administration of funds by various banks who are yet to credit Corps Members’ accounts.

“In line with the above, NYSC Management is assiduously interfacing with the banks to fast track the payment of Corps Members’ June allowance without further delay.”

The NYSC Spokesperson,, therefore urged corps members to maintain peace and obey the law while performing their national service, adding that the Scheme will continue to give concerns about their welfare which was a top priority.
