Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has publicly dismissed allegations regarding his supposed ambition for a third term in office, asserting that he never desired such an extension.
In a recent interview with Kayode Akintemi on News Central Television, Obasanjo clarified that while he could have pursued a third term, he chose not to.
Addressing the controversy that has lingered since his administration, Obasanjo stated, “If I had wanted a third term, I would have gotten it. I didn’t want a third term.
He explained that certain governors were instrumental in perpetuating the rumors, believing that his re-election would allow them to extend their own tenures.
