The governor described him as a model leader not only in Nigeria but around the world.

He said Obasanjo, a retired military general, and elder statesman, deserved to be honored for his contributions to Nigeria’s unity, peaceful coexistence, and socioeconomic growth and development.

According to Sanwo-Olu, Obasanjo was one of the few Nigerian leaders who had made significant contributions to the country’s growth and development, both as a military and civilian leader, and who had left with an impeccable record.

He stated that Obasanjo was a global leader to be reckoned with because of his zealous involvement in African affairs and other global issues.

I warmly congratulate Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on his 85th birthday anniversary on behalf of my family, government, and the people of Lagos State.

“Baba Obasanjo deserves to be honored for his contributions to the development of our beloved country, particularly his service to the nation as a gallant military officer, Head of State, and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

As a military officer and political leader, he has made numerous positive contributions to the country, fighting alongside several other patriots for a united Nigeria during his time in the Nigerian Army.

As the first Nigerian to serve as Head of State and later as Civilian President, he has etched his name in gold. He also led the country with a focus on improving citizens’ lives and the country’s economy.

As Baba Obasanjo marks a significant milestone, I join your family, friends, and associates in wishing you many happy returns. According to Sanwo-Olu.

He prayed to God to grant Obasanjo a long life and good health so that the country could continue to benefit from his wealth of knowledge and experience as an elder.
