Obi’s supporters, known as Obidients, responded strongly to Sanwo-Olu’s criticism, questioning his moral authority and suggesting he is merely a “transient placeholder.
Supporters of former presidential candidate Peter Obi have responded strongly to criticism from Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Sanwo-Olu had accused Obi of making “disparaging comments” about Nigeria during a recent visit to Johns Hopkins University.
“We are not surprised. This is how you evil APC politicians slam Davido when he spoke the truth about this country. You hate hearing the truth but sorry the truth must be told,” Uzozie Johnson wrote on Facebook. An X user identified as Anambra’s 1st son (@UchePOkoye) launched a scathing attack, suggesting Sanwo-Olu was merely a “transient placeholder” who should not involve himself in serious political discourse.
Sanwo-Olu defended President Bola Tinubu’s policies, noting that the President had a track record of reducing poverty when he governed Lagos State between 1999 and 2007.

“Mr. Obi contributed to the increase in poverty in Nigeria. Governor Tinubu, as he then was, was responsible for lifting millions out of poverty. Being that that is the case, who should criticise who?” he stated.
The Obidients’ response was swift, with many questioning Sanwo-Olu’s moral authority.
“Sanwo Baby, it is not wise for a transient placeholder to be part of the political conversation in Nigeria,” @UchePOkoye wrote.
