Youths under the aegis of Obotebe Youth Forum have expressed neglect and marginalization by the Delta State Government led by Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.

This is even as the youths declared readiness to boycott the forthcoming 2023 elections if the trend continues.

The above formed part of resolutions reached at the body’s emergency meeting on Friday at Obotebe, Burutu local government area of Delta State.

According to the OYF, political parties, particularly the Peoples Democratic Party, have made it a common practice to turn a blind eye to the plight of the Obotebe people.

Convener of the forum, Comrade Samisco Okpe lamented that the people have been abandoned both in political appointments and infrastructure.

He said;
“It is unfortunate and painful that the youths of Obotebe Ward 10 are always relegated after election seasons. We worked to hard to bring the government of the day into power, yet are deprived of the rewards of governance.

“This time, it will no longer be so. We demand for what is due our people by way of infrastructure and human capital development and only that will pacify us.”

Blaming the debacle on disagreements among political leaders in the Ward, the body demanded for a swift and peaceful reconciliation among them to further drive unity.

Some of the group’s demands include the appointment of deserving Obotebe sons and daughters to political offices before the 2023 general elections and the completion and commissioning of ongoing projects in the community.
