Odumodublvck Wins Next Rated Artist At The Headies, Celebrates Victory, Thanks Fans, Faith In Jesus Christ

Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has been crowned the Next Rated Artist at the 17th Headies Awards, beating out fellow nominees Shallipopi, Qing Madi, and Ayo Maff.

One of the most coveted honours at the Headies, the Next Rated award, is given to up-and-coming artists who are making noteworthy contributions to the Nigerian music landscape.

Music legend Davido presented the prize, which acknowledges Odumodublvck’s unique style of fusing gritty rap, street influences, and cultural narrative. This combination has rapidly gained him a devoted fan base.

Tochukwu Ojogwu, known as Odumodublvck, first captured widespread attention with his track “Declan Rice,” which demonstrated his bold lyrics and captivating performance.

Recognized for blending Nigerian street culture with his music while retaining a distinctive sound, he has earned acclaim for expanding the limits of modern Nigerian rap.

The 17th edition of the Headies, which honors exceptional accomplishments in Nigerian music, took place on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos.

The event showcased a star-filled gathering of top industry figures, along with performances from some of the most promising talents in the scene.

In his acceptance speech, he partly said, “Against all odds, I have pushed against so many barriers like this. Couple of years back, there were so many feelings we could not express through our music.

“The world world clap us down; ‘you can’t be this,’ or ‘you can’t speak like,’ ‘you can’t do this,’ ‘you can’t release music in this way.’

“Me standing here today, is a proof that all those things are fallacies. It only would have been possible through my Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ, who have been there for me through thick and thin. Tonight, God has shown that God reigns.”

Also taking to his X platform on Monday, he wrote, “THANK YOU JESUS.
