Some of the stranded Nigerians in Sudan have reportedly been abandoned by the embassy officials.

The said officials allegedly joined their families in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, leaving the evacuees behind.

The development is coming less than 24 hours after Daily Report Nigeria reported that drivers attached to the buses conveying stranded Nigerian students out of Sudan, abandoned them in the Sahara Desert over alleged non-payment of fares.

The report attracted wide criticism from Nigerians, who wondered if the lives of citizens meant nothing to officials.

Earlier this week, the Nigerian government announced it was budgeting $1.2 million for buses to evacuate stranded citizens from the wartorn country by road.

Recall that the Sudanese warring factions extended the ceasefire by three days, starting from Friday.
