The Alagodo of Agodo, Oba Ayinde Odetola of Agodo Town in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, was on Monday burnt to death alongside his three friends at about 11 am by hoodlums who are residents of Agodo village.

Daily Report Nigeria gathered that the Oba who was installed by Oba Michael Gbadebo, the Alake of Egbaland in a village under the authority of Owu kingdom was not accepted by his people since he was an Ake person and not Owu.

Chief Adenike Akintade, elder sister to the deceased king expressed deep sorrow stating that her younger brother was also murdered by the same hoodlums who killed the Oba. She said, “I had just been discharged from hospital early this morning, only to start mourning the brutal assassination of my brother by 11 am.

“Oba Odetola lost his younger brother to the imbroglio some months ago; the young man was butchered by the so-called hoodlums. Today, Kabiesi is no more, what a world!”

Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, also confirmed the incident stating that the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole; and the Special Security Advisor to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Mr. Olusola Subair had visited the town for an on-spot assessment. He also added that at the time of the visit, the villagers had deserted the village.

“Yes, we are aware. The CP has gone to the place. The villagers had left the village before we got there.

“The CP has directed the Homicide Section to take over the case and investigate the matter.

“Only one person was burnt. We don’t know if he is an Oba or not”, he said.
