A 41-year-old man identified as Temidayo Oladimeji has been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command for kidnapping a journalist at the Mobalufon area of Ijebu Ode on March 9.

The Ogun State police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi stated that the suspect was arrested following a “technical and intelligence-based investigation” embarked upon by SP Taiwo Opadiran-led anti-kidnapping team, which led them to the hideout where the suspect had been hibernating.

Oyeyemi said that the suspect, Oladimeji was the one assigned to guard the victim in the bush while the other two were on the lookout waiting for the ransom money from Oduneye’s family and friends.

He added that Oladimeji had abandoned the victim and ran away when he got to know that his other colleagues has been injured during a gunfight with the Police.

“Luck, however, ran out on him when he was traced to his hideout in Ijebu-ode where he was apprehended,” Oyeyemi said

A locally-made pistol and a live cartridge were recovered from the suspect.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Frank Mba, had directed the team to intensify efforts toward arresting other members of the gang.
