Okwu said Suleiman had demonstrated clear capacity to promote and defend common interests of the northern region, as well as build bridges towards fostering a united nation.
The president of the Igbo socio-cultural organisation said, “We heartily felicitate with our brother, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, on his well deserved appointment as the spokesman of the Northern Elders’ Forum. The NEF couldn’t have made any better choice.
“We say this because Abdul-Azeez Suleiman is a bridge builder, a firm believer in the unity of Nigeria and a promoter of Northern interests.
“He approaches issues with boldness, courage, objectivity and selflessness. He is no doubt the right person to speak for the elite Northern group.
“We have worked together with him in the past and would continue to have robust relationships with him and indeed the entire NEF towards the good of the country,”
