Group pledges support for Tinubu until 2031 but warns opposition against attacking Senator Dave Umahi.
The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has declared its support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, citing what it described as unprecedented federal government investment in the Southeast since the end of the Nigeria-Biafra War.
In a statement issued in Abakaliki, Deputy National President of an Ohanaeze faction, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said the government’s ₦1.43 trillion allocation for the construction and rehabilitation of long-neglected federal roads in the region marks a historic shift.
He also pointed to the establishment of the Southeast Development Commission and the $3 billion plan to modernise the Eastern Economic Corridor railway as proof of Tinubu’s commitment.

According to the statement, the creation of the Southeast Investment Company will help attract and manage investments in the zone, while Senator Dave Umahi, Minister of Works, has been tasked with communicating the collective stance of Southeast leaders on the projects.
Isiguzoro said there was now a collective consensus among Igbo stakeholders to support Tinubu’s administration beyond 2027.
He condemned what he called orchestrated media attacks on Umahi, warning that such actions would not be tolerated, and urged all Igbo groups to unite in harnessing ongoing federal projects to transform the Southeast into West Africa’s new economic hub.
