A faction of Ohanaeze Ndigbo led by Chief Jackson Omenazu has criticized Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, for allegedly refusing to allow due process of the law in the state.
In a statement made available to journalists, the group expressed support for the 27 lawmakers of the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule.
“We stand resolutely in support of the leadership and dedicated membership of the 10th Rivers State House of Assembly, ably led by Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule,” the group said.

“We urge Governor Sim Fubara to cease catalyzing imaginary confusion and unnecessary political strife within our beloved state and to prioritize the restoration of peace and unity for the greater good of all Rivers citizens.”
The group also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to maintain a balanced political landscape in the state.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo acknowledges President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s sincere efforts to maintain a balanced political landscape in Rivers State, which has ensured that the Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule-led House of Assembly can effectively resume its legislative duties,” the group said.

Senator John Azuta-Mbata has emerged as the new President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, a prominent Igbo socio-cultural organisation.
Azuta-Mbata was chosen through a voice vote, succeeding Fidelis Chukwu, whose tenure concluded on Friday.
