“We commend the South-East Governors Forum and the Senate caucus for this bold step and urge Mr President, the father of the nation, to accede to their request,” said Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide.
“The release of Nnamdi Kanu to the Igbo leaders would no doubt endear the people to Mr President and make him, the President, a man of history.”
This appeal comes after South-East governors and senators recently met to demand Kanu’s release. Okwu noted that the prolonged detention of Kanu has not solved the insecurity issues in the South-East and that dialogue and his release are necessary for peace.
