The Ijaw Youth Council, Western Zone, has commended the Chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Andaye Dagidi, on his swift response to the group’s call for the urgent rehabilitation of the Ohoro-Bomadi road.
The group commended Dagidi for his drastic efforts towards providing remedial repairs on the severely dilapidated road.
In a statement on Tuesday by its Information Officer, Comrade Tare Magbei, the IYC further tasked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State to intensify efforts towards implementing lasting rehabilitation on the road.
“The Ijaw Youth Council, Western Zone, commends Hon. Dagidi Andaye chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Bomadi Local Government Area, for his swift action in providing remedial repairs on the Ohoro-Bomadi road.
“We salute the PDP flagbearer’s intent for immediate, though temporary solutions to the dilabilitated road.
“While we commend the good intentions of Hon. Dagidi, it is an obvious fact that the Ohoro-Bomadi is a project for the Delta State Government.
“The aforementioned road links communities in Patani, Ughelli South and Bomadi locla government areas, with Ijaws alone accounting for 72 of these communities.
“To emphasize the multidimensional economic values of the project, the road serves as means of transportation for civil servants, fishermen, farmers, entrepreneurs and more.
“Hence, we call on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to show priority for the economic and developmentmal welfare our people by investing the needed resources to upgrade the road to standard expectations.”
Recall that the IYC had on Saturday June 15, 2024 staged a peaceful demonstration on dilabilitated portions of the Ohoro-Bomadi road, calling on the Delta State Government to urgently rehabilitate the road
