The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), says it is ready to tackle pipeline oil theft and will soon deploy a special mission 24/7 surveillance aircraft for the operation.
Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh announced this at the 53rd Session of the ministerial weekly briefing on Thursday.
According to Jamoh, a group of persons from the agency were currently training in Italy for about three weeks to operate the special aircraft.

The surveillance of the pipelines would commence thereafter, adding that this development was after talks with the NNPC.
Additionally, about 2,041 cadets have graduated from the National Seafarers Development Programme with 800 of the graduating cadets securing placements in maritime establishments abroad, he added.
But the NIMASA CEO explained that successful graduates cannot be employed in the country.
This was due lack of availability of local fleets to absorb them.
