Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has been elected the new Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala emerged winner following a final two-man race with South Korea’s Trade Minister, Yoo Myung-hee, polling a total of 104 votes from 164 member countries to defeat.
