In a historic ceremony at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Tuesday, Senator Monday Okpebholo was officially sworn in as the Governor of Edo State, with Dennis Idahosa taking the oath of office as his deputy.

The Chief Justice of Edo State, Daniel Okungbowa, administered the oaths to the new leaders, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the state’s governance.

As they took their oaths, both Okpebholo and Idahosa pledged to uphold the Constitution of Nigeria, serve within its frameworks, and focus on improving the lives of Edo citizens.

The event was met with cheers and jubilation from a large crowd of supporters gathered at the stadium, signaling widespread hope and anticipation for the incoming administration.

Governor Okpebholo, in his remarks, emphasized his commitment to working closely with the people of Edo to address pressing issues, particularly in the areas of education, infrastructure, and economic development.

Deputy Governor Idahosa, who also spoke at the ceremony, echoed his running mate’s sentiments, assuring Edo residents of his dedication to the success of the administration. “Together, we will build a brighter future for Edo State, where every citizen can thrive,” Idahosa stated.

The transition of power was closely watched by political observers and stakeholders, all eager to see how the new leadership will navigate the challenges of governance in the coming years.
