The Olu of Warri, His Royal Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, on Saturday, officially confirmed seven additional traditional chiefs in Itsekiriland as the chieftaincy revalidation exercise he spearheaded recently continued.

The carnival-like exercise, which followed an earlier public notice by the monarch dissolving the Council and other committees in the Kingdom, took place at the ancestral home of the Itsekiris, Ode-Itsekiri, in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Among the confirmed chiefs are Chief Isaac Jemide (Otsodin); Chief Sunday Rone (Obazuaye); Chief P. D. Yalaju (Kenekuniraro); Chief Francis Omatseye (Edigbe); Chief Oma Eyewuoma (Aboludero); Chief Mark Erumi (Chaplin) and Chief Richmond McGray (Oritseboluwo).

The chiefs pledged their moral and financial support for the socioeconomic agenda of His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III to transform the Warri Kingdom without further delay.

One of them, Chief Richmond McGray, the Oritseboluwo of the Warri Kingdom, acknowledging the relevance of the revalidation exercise, said;

“it affords the king to know his inherited chiefs and familiarize himself with them in actualizing his progressive agenda”.

The Oritseboluwo urged well-meaning Itsekiris, home and abroad, to partner with the monarch through the establishment of cottage industries to absolve the teeming unemployed graduates, thus supporting in actualizing the monarch’s noble goal of mobilizing empowerment for women and youths in the kingdom.

The chieftaincy revalidation/confirmation exercise, which has been scheduled in batches, would continue on Monday, 6 September.
