The event took place at the Old Banquet Hall in Abuja, where religious leaders and dignitaries gathered to promote unity and peaceful coexistence.
During her remarks, Oluremi Tinubu spoke about the importance of tolerance and maturity in marriages, particularly in interfaith relationships.
“Some of us are married to men of different faith, and we lived together peacefully for many years. Me, almost 40 years,” she said.
She noted that despite their long years together, she could hardly recall a time when she and her husband raised their voices at each other.
“And I can tell you, I cannot remember when both of us raised our voices at each other… So we’ve been quite mature and respectful about that. And I believe that’s the best way to live together.”
The First Lady added that faith plays a significant role in sustaining relationships, stressing that her connection with individuals who do not believe in God often does not last long.
According to her, mutual respect and a shared sense of spirituality are essential for building lasting partnerships and maintaining harmony within families and society.
Her remarks also highlighted the broader theme of the gathering, promoting unity among people of different religious backgrounds in Nigeria
