Omah Lay rose to prominence and achieved international fame with his hits “Bad Influence,” “Do Not Disturb,” “Godly,” “Understand,” “Attention,” and “Soso”. He has received multiple honours, including the Headies in 2020 and 2023.
Omah Lay’s debut studio album, Boy Alone, was released in 2022, followed by a deluxe edition in 2023. The record gained great acclaim.

Omay Lay Biography
Stanley Omah Didia was born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He was born on May 19, 1997, in Rivers State, and is from Egbeda, Emohua, Rivers Local Government Area. He attended Rivers State Comprehensive High School before enrolling at the University of Port Harcourt.
He comes from a musical family; his grandfather used to play instruments for Celestine Ukwu, who died in 1977. Omah Lay’s father was a local drummer.
Career
Omah Lay began his musical career as a rapper under the stage name “Lil King.” However, he then turned to songwriting and music production, releasing the singles “Do Not Disturb” and “Hello Brother” in April 2019.
Omah Lay signed with the record company KeyQaad in June 2019 and went on a seven-month hiatus to improve his skills. During his trip, he worked hard on his debut EP, “Get Layd.”
The EP, which premiered on May 22, 2020, quickly rose to the top of the Nigerian Apple Music charts, with all five tracks making the top 15.
Omah Lay’s breakout single, “Bad Influence,” became the most-streamed Nigerian song on Apple Music by the end of 2020, firmly establishing his spot in the music industry.
In February 2020, he released his first official single, “You,” which boosted his popularity.
Omah Lay’s success continued with the release of his second EP, “What Have We Done,” on November 20, 2020. The EP had five songs, with “Godly” reaching number one on Nigeria’s Apple Music charts.
He rose to international prominence by collaborating with musicians like Olamide on “Infinity” and joining Apple’s Africa Rising Campaign in July 2020.
Lay collaborated with Bieber on “Attention” in March 2022. The song appeared on Lay’s debut album, Boy Alone, which was published the same year.
Omah Lay announced the Boy Alone Tour as part of the album’s release, which will take him to the United States and Canada in 2022.
Lay released a deluxe version of his album Boy Alone[31] in the summer of 2023, and the record earned him a Headies Award for Best Male Artist and Album. The same year, he exceeded 1 billion Spotify streams for all of his tracks.
He also appeared on the deluxe edition bonus track “I Can’t Stop” for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which included Big Boss Vette as well.
Omah Lay received numerous accolades in 2020, including being named BET’s Amplified International Artist of the Month for November. He also garnered four nominations for the 2020 Headies Awards, winning the coveted Next Rated category.
In 2021, Omah Lay continued to make waves in the music industry. He collaborated with Nigerian producer Masterkraft on a remix of Justin Bieber’s popular song “Peaches” and released “Understand” on July 8, 2021. His collaboration with Bieber continued with the release of “Attention” on March 3, 2022.
Omah Lay faced a minor setback in December 2020, when he and fellow artist Tems were detained in Uganda for allegedly violating COVID-19 lockdown regulations. However, two days later, the Ugandan government released them, citing a misunderstanding and clearing them of any wrongdoing.
Omah Lay launched the European leg of his Boy Alone Tour in 2024. During one of his London performances, he drew fire for bringing a female fan on stage to dance while her boyfriend was present (and leaving the venue disappointed).
He also released the track “Holy Ghost” in 2024, as well as a remix with French DJ and producer Martin Solveig. The song received more than 100 million streams on African streaming sites.
Omah Lay was featured on the song “With You” from Davido’s 5ive album, which became the album’s biggest hit. Nixxan, a fan and upcoming musician, produced a five-track mixtape in tribute to Omah Lay.
