Omah Lay, Tems Released From Police Custody in Uganda

Nigerian singers, Omah Lay and Tems have both been released by authorities following their arrest over an alleged flouting of Covid-19 rules in Uganda.

The duo was arrested after performing in a show on Sunday and were charged to court for perpetrating “acts that are likely to cause the spread of Coronavirus.”

Their release was announced by Afropop singer, Mr. Eazi, who exercised delight at their freedom.

The Doyin crooner took to Twitter to make the announcement and wrote;

“Pleased to hear that My brothers and sisters are to be released & the case is resolved, Big love to everyone who worked on this & Special thanks to @adoniaayebare & The Government of Uganda, Chief Of Justice In Uganda. African relations must keep fostering strong!

He further called on Africans to appreciate entertainers for the work they put in towards creating wealth in the continent.

“On the said issue, Promoters must adhere to Rules and Regulations & be held accountable for flouting these rules. We African Creatives get Little or no support, for the soft power & amount of Jobs we create! The sector must be looked at holistically! God bless Africa.”
