Omo-Agege Congratulates Austin Avuru, Tasks New NNPC Management on Oil Sector Reformation

• Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has congratulated Mr. Austin Avuru on his appointment as a non-executive director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited.

• Omo-Agege charged Avuru and the new management team to drive President Tinubu’s vision of making NNPC a global player in the oil and gas sector.

Deputy Senate President in the 9th Assembly, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has congratulated Mr. Austin Avuru on his appointment into the management team of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited as a non-executive director by President Bola Tinubu.

Omo-Agege also congratulated Engineer Bashir Bayo Ojulari, the new Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), and Ahmadu Musa Kida, the non-executive chairman.

In his congratulatory message, Senator Omo-Agege charged them to be inspired by President Tinubu’s bold ambition to make NNPC Limited a global player in the oil and gas sector.

This was contained in a statement by Sunny Areh, Media Adviser to Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

Omo-Agege specifically tasked Avuru, who represents the South South region in the new management, to leverage his expertise to achieve President Tinubu’s vision.

“Given President Tinubu’s vision of increasing investment in the oil industry to $30 billion by 2027 and $60 billion by 2030, your appointment is a deliberate one to leverage on your sterling antecedents and expertise,” Omo-Agege stated.

Avuru, a geologist by training, has spent over 40 years in the Nigerian oil and gas sector. He was Managing Director of Platform Petroleum Limited and pioneer CEO of Seplat Ltd, a company he co-founded.

Under his leadership, Seplat was dually listed on the London Stock Exchange and Nigeria Stock Exchange.
