Ahead of the forthcoming Ondo state gubernatorial election slated for October 10, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that a total of 1,478,460 electorates are expected to cast their respective votes in the Saturday’s Governorship poll.
This was disclosed by the INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ondo, Mr Rufus Akeju, at the Akure capital on Monday.
According to Akeju, electorates would exercise their franchise across the 203 wards and 3009 polling units in the state during the voting exercise.

He further assured on a free, credible and fair election.
Akeju noted that the commission would soon receive sensitive materials for the exercise as he enjoined the police to provide maximum security for the poll.
Meanwhile, Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has said that no less than 33,783 police officers would be deployed to ensure and monitor adequate security for the election.
A total of 17 political parties would participate in the exercise.
