The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned Saturday’s Ondo State governorship election, calling it the “worst” election ever conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a statement issued on Sunday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, expressed outrage over the election process, accusing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of engaging in widespread electoral fraud.
“The PDP National Working Committee (NWC) will conduct a detailed review of the election and its outcome, and take appropriate action in defense of our democracy,” Ologunagba said, adding that the election had fallen far short of the expectations for a free, fair, and credible process.
The party accused the APC of manipulating the election through “election merchandising, monetization, and brazen vote-buying,” actions which it claimed suppressed the true will of the people of Ondo State.

The PDP further demanded that immediate measures be taken to address these issues, warning that the survival of Nigeria’s democracy was at stake.
Ologunagba also drew attention to what he described as “electoral swindling, deceit, and manipulation” that marred the election, and called on both Nigerians and the international community to take notice of the alleged irregularities.
