Ondo Lawyer Arraigned over N4.7m Theft

Legal practitioner, Mr Anthony Thomas has been arraigned in Magistrate Court in Ondo town for alleged theft of N4,775,000.

The police in Ondo State have brought the lawyer before Magistrate Oluwatoyin Olowokere.

Thomas was faced with court charges which read:

That you, Anthony Oladele Thomas, sometime in 2009 at Ondo Town, within the Ondo State Magisterial District, did steal the sum of N4,775,000 being part of the proceeds of the sale of Flionis property belonging to Olufemi Adesioye and his family by fraudulently converting the money to your personal use.”

Thomas however, pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of three million naira with two sureties in the like sum.

Thomas’ arraignment followed a complaint by Adesioye, 90.

Meanwhile, Olowokere adjourned till January 17, 2023, for trial.
