The Ondo State Police Command has arrested Azeez Lamidi, a 49 year old man from Ogbagi-Akoko, for allegedly defiling a 14 year old girl and giving her drugs that led to a forced abortion. The incident was reported on October 9, 2025, by the victim’s father, identified as Salami, who rushed his daughter to the hospital after she began bleeding heavily.

According to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, medical personnel confirmed that the girl had undergone a drug-induced abortion. During questioning, the teenager revealed that Lamidi had been sexually abusing her over time and, upon discovering her pregnancy, allegedly administered pills that caused the miscarriage.

The victim has been referred to the State Specialist Hospital, Igbatoro, for full medical care, while the suspect remains in custody as police continue their investigation. The case has been transferred to the gender unit for detailed examination, following an order by Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal.

Ayanlade stated that the Commissioner condemned the growing rate of child sexual abuse across the state and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to ensuring offenders face justice. He also issued a warning to those exploiting minors, stressing that the command “will not hesitate to apply the full weight of the law on anyone found guilty.”
