  • One person has been confirmed dead, other injured following a ghastly car accident in Anambra State.

  • The bus was said to have been conveying some Catholic Church members when it lost it’s breaks.

Over 20 injured victims have been confirmed in a recent car crash in Anambra State.

Daily Report Nigeria gathers that a coaster bus said to be transporting members of a Catholic church, Knights of the Catholic Church lost it’s breaks, and collided with another vehicle.

 

The crash happened along along UNIZIK Temporary Site Junction, Awka, Anambra State.

Daily Report Nigeria gathers that the bus, as well as it’s occupants left Ogoja, Cross Rivers for Abatete, to attend the burial of one of their members, Dr. Ezigbo Sunny when tragedy struck.

The aftermath of the accident is the demise of 70-year-old Elliot Ushie Agana from Ogoja, and injuries sustained by 29 other people.

Confirming the incident, a survivor, Pastor Christian Ikere explained that they had noticed the bus breaks malfunctioning while leaving for Anambra State, and despite pleas to the driver to work on it, he turned deaf ears.

Another passenger in a different coaster bus who confirmed the incident said the coaster bus lost control and was waving at other vehicles to clear the road to avoid accident.

But on getting to UNIZIK junction, it hit an inter-city commercial vehicle loading along the road, causing the accident.

Remains of the deceased have been deposited in a morgue, while the 29 injured passengers are receiving treatment at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka.
