One person was confirmed dead and five others injured on Saturday morning after a Lexus Jeep collided with two tricycles at Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. along People’s Club-Limca Road, just hours before the by-elections for Anambra South Senatorial District and Onitsha North I State Constituency.

Eyewitnesses reported that the occupants of the vehicle, suspected to be security operatives, fled the scene with their rifles upon realizing the severity of the crash.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State, Tochukwu Ikenga, said the vehicle has been recovered and a full investigation has been ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu.
Ikenga explained that the Lexus Jeep rammed into the tricycles, resulting in the death of one person, while others sustained varying degrees of injury. The victims were taken to a nearby hospital, where one was pronounced dead.
He further clarified that enquiries revealed the vehicle does not belong to any security agency in the state.
The police have appealed to residents to remain calm as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash continue.

Jamaican-American singer Sean Kingston has been sentenced to three and a half years behind bars for his involvement in a $1 million fraud scheme centered on luxury goods.
