Resolution now rests entirely with Senate or a competent court.
The Office of the Clerk to the National Assembly has formally stated that it lacks authority to facilitate the resumption of Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, following media speculation about its role in the ongoing dispute.
In a statement issued on Monday, Bulah Audu Bi-Allah, Director of Information to the Clerk, stressed that the office’s functions are strictly administrative and guided by Senate resolutions, Standing Orders, and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).

“The Clerk does not possess the authority to review, reverse or interpret Senate decisions,” the statement affirmed, noting that recent reports had misrepresented the office’s responsibilities.
This clarification follows Senator Natasha’s attempt to resume her legislative duties on September 4, 2025, after serving a six-month suspension imposed by the Senate on March 6, 2025. The Clerk’s Office confirmed it had duly informed Senate leadership of the senator’s communication but cannot act to facilitate her resumption.
