Nigerian football dominated the 2023 CAF Awards held on Monday night in Marakkesh, Morocco.

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen secured perhaps the biggest win of the night with the CAF Men’s Player of The Year 2023.

The Napoli striker broke a 24-year jinx in the process, becoming the first Nigerian man to win the award since Kanu Nwankwo in 1999.

Osimhen saw off competition from Egypt’s Mohammed Salah and Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi to claim the gong, following stellar performances for club and country.

Super Falcons striker, Asisat Oshoala won a record-extending sixth CAF Women’s Player of the Year to cap off her incredible performances for Barcelona Femeni and the Nigerian team.

On the other hand, the Super Falcons of Nigeria were adjudged the Best Women’s National Team of the Year after a strong showing at the Women’s World Cup in Australia and finishing strong in the 2024 WAFCON qualifiers.

Chiamaka Nnadozie was crowned Best Women’s Goalkeeper of The Year as a reward for her displays for the Super Falcons and Paris FC.
