Former Vice Presidents Yemi Osinbajo and Atiku Abubakar, alongside top political figures, on Tuesday arrived in Katsina State for the burial of late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
A heavy security presence was deployed across Daura, Buhari’s hometown, with operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigerian Army stationed at strategic locations. Traffic diversions and crowd control measures were enforced as thousands of mourners gathered to pay their final respects.
Among the first arrivals were former Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi; former Senate President, Hon. Ahmad Lawan; and former Governors Aminu Bello Masari (Katsina), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto), and Ali Modu Sheriff (Borno).

Also in attendance were billionaire businessman Alhaji Aliko Dangote, former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof Isa Pantami, and former Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen.
More dignitaries including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, religious leaders, and traditional rulers are expected in the coming hours as the funeral rites continue.
The burial of the late President, who died in London on Sunday, 13 July 2025, has drawn national and international attention.
