Osinbajo won APC presidential primary – Senator Girei

Senator Abubakar Girei, a member of the APC Election Management Committee at the party’s recently concluded Special National Convention, claims that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is the true victor of the election.

Those spreading the Muslim-Muslim ticket as Bola Tinubu’s running mate in the party are propagandists for their own selfish objectives, according to Girei.

According to him, during the party’s recently finished presidential primary, which was won by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the party’s National Leader, with 1,271 votes, the Vice President never supported vote-buying.

However, the former lawmaker, who stood for the job of National Deputy Chairman (North) but stepped down to honor the agreement that brought Senator Abdullahi Adamu into office said the presidential primaries were free and fair.

As Vice President, he is an heir to the monarchy, a crown prince, who should have been awarded the right of first refusal in the competition in which he volunteered himself to serve the nation and was deemed acceptable by the people.

He delivered the best speech at the convention, as well as the best manifesto. More than any other candidate, he recognized issues and favored remedies to them.

I consider him the greatest winner of the convention because he has never run for office before and knows nothing about politics.

“I have no doubt that Nigeria has lost the best presidential candidate that the country could have produced.”

He continued, “In today’s politics, it is pretty evident that the highest bidders always have their way, and the election goes to those who could buy their way in a cash and carry fashion, and not necessarily the best.”

While congratulating former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on his election as the APC’s flag bearer in the 2023 general election, Girei pledged to work for the party’s overall triumph from the bottom up.

“As a committed member of the APC, I will fight tirelessly for the total success of my party’s flagbearers at all levels, and I am convinced that our party will win.”

Even his friends and allies who sought to support him could only do so without his knowledge, Girei added, that the Vice President was against vote-buying.

“It may also interest Nigerians to know that Osinbajo opposes monetization of our democracy and politics, and has refused to encourage delegate or vote-buying,” said one of his teaming supporters.

On the rumored Muslim-Muslim ticket, the APC leader stated that it was an issue championed by propagandists for self-interested political gain, presumably by those who were neither good Muslims nor Christians.

“However, politics is all about winning strategy, therefore in my opinion, any technique that can be pushed to win elections within the confines of the Constitution is acceptable to me,” Girei continued.
