The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has made a startling accusation against the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, alleging that he is planning to assassinate Governor Ademola Adeleke.
This claim was made by the Osun PDP chairman, Sunday Bisi, during a press conference in Osogbo on Wednesday.
According to Bisi, the IGP has deployed Police Special Forces to escort miscreants into local government council secretariats, aiming to cause unrest and destabilize the state.

Bisi described this move as “a blatant coup” and part of a broader plan to assassinate Governor Adeleke.
The accusation comes amid the ongoing local government crisis in Osun State, which erupted after sacked local government chairmen and councillors from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) attempted to regain control of council secretariats.
The crisis has resulted in several deaths and injuries, including the killing of Remi Abass, the ousted chairman of Irewole Local Government Area.
Bisi stated that Governor Adeleke had been engaging with the IGP to restore peace, but the IGP’s actions have emboldened troublemakers.

He also questioned why the IGP bypassed the state governor in responding to the security crisis.
“The whole world must warn and prevail on Mr. Kayode Egbetokun to desist from enabling these attempts on the life of our governor,” Bisi said.
The PDP chairman suggested that the police intervention is designed to disrupt the upcoming local government elections scheduled for Saturday, February 22, 2025.
Court Rejects Anyanwu’s Bid To Stop Inec From Effecting Removal As PDP Secretary
The Federal High Court in Abuja has turned down Senator Samuel Anyanwu’s request to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from giving effect to his removal as National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Instead, Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo ordered Anyanwu to put INEC and other defendants on notice to appear in court and present their sides of the case.
