A resident, who asked not to be named, said the death came as a shock because she showed no signs of illness beforehand. “We heard the cry for help and we all ran towards Yinka’s house. By the time I arrived, there were already many people there. I saw some security personnel at the house, but the crowd was overwhelming and it was already late. People were visibly shaken by what happened,” he recounted.

It was gathered that Bidemi had planned to attend a Friday night vigil before tragedy struck. Another eyewitness added, “She usually attends vigil on Fridays. The police have since arrested the boyfriend, and he is with them now.”

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the case was reported to the command on Saturday. He explained, “Preliminary reports indicated that the deceased began vomiting shortly after her arrival at her boyfriend’s home. She was rushed to a hospital, but she died on the way.”
