- Protests erupted in Jos, Plateau State, on Monday over the ongoing killings in local communities by suspected Fulani militants.
- The protest, which caused major traffic disruption, was sparked by recent attacks in Bokkos and Bassa LGAs that claimed over 100 lives in two weeks.
Tensions flared in Jos, the Plateau State capital, on Monday as residents took to the streets in protest against the ongoing killings of indigenous people by suspected Fulani militants.
The demonstration, led by Christian leaders including the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state, Rev. Polycarp Lubo, began at the Fawvwei Junction, creating traffic gridlock and leaving commuters stranded.
The protests were triggered by a surge in deadly attacks across communities in the state, particularly in Bokkos and Bassa Local Government Areas, where over 100 people have reportedly been killed in the last two weeks.

Protesters carried placards with messages decrying the violence as they marched towards the Rayfield Government House.
“We are not happy over the continuous attacks and killings by gunmen in our communities. That’s why we have come out again to protest these happenings,” said Gyang Dalyop, one of the protesters.
Another demonstrator, Hannatu Philip, appealed to authorities, saying, “The government must intervene now before things spiral out of control.”
